My work is meant to reflect my creativity as a whole and show the way my mind works in it’s rawest and fullest form. Staging street photography is my way of doing so. I believe that showing the world how I my mind works is important to many people because it shows them my own creativity and the way I think. I enjoy staging street photography because I get to pose my models the way I want and make it interesting for the photographer and not so much for the person being photographed.
Staging some of street photography is fun and cool to me because I get to decide what I want to shoot and what part of me I want to show to people who look at my work. I can’t express myself socially to other people but I can do that through the work I do and I can show what I enjoy, what I’m thinking and what I want to shoot. I figured out what I wanted to really late into my Photography 2 class but I am glad I figured it out that way if I ever want to get into this business then I know what I want to shoot. I just feel like if I can decide then I perfect a photo in the way it’s perfect and satisfying to me. One could also say that this is just a journey of self-satisfaction and having majority of the control over what I shoot and what poses I want. I guess this can also be sort of figurative photography but the beauty is in the eye of the beholder is what I like to think. For example Tomasz Kulbowski would be one of my influences because I enjoy the work he does with his incognito photography because in his bio he gets the consent to use the photos after shooting with the subjects first when they are unaware of his presence but I am more straight-forward and would like consent first because I enjoy posing my models and getting them to pose in an interesting way. Another photographer I enjoy would be Robert Frank because he loves to take photos of the things he finds more interesting. Another one of my personal favorite street photographers would be Jack Simon, he quoted in his artist statement that he nevers plans for his photography shoots but it just happens on the fly. However, staging photos can also be fun because I have taken photos that I want to try again or I’m interested in doing a shot that is similar to that. I like to come up with stuff on the fly and then run with it. My fourth influence would be David Solomons because of his version of street photography is pretty straight forward and he seems to look for interesting situations that he can take advantage of and create interesting photos. My final influence would be Richard Sandler because the work I have seen from this photographer is amazing due to the fact that this person does street photography which is similar to Robert Frank’s work and I find that pretty cool and I would be able to do many cool shots with that style and I thought that experimenting that would be cool.I believe that the concept itself is pretty cool and want to improve my own skills. I can’t say that being incognito the entire time is my thing but I like to take dramatic looking photos of people the way I believe it will be interesting instead of going on the whim and relying on intuition, my favorite part of taking pictures of people is the whole posing process because I like thinking of poses that seem boring but is actually interesting but that’s just me. I enjoy street photography but I like having control over the situation in front of me versus looking for one. But don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy taking incognito photos, I just simply enjoy both.
